The River’s End Bookstore “Serving Readers and Writers” for 15 Years.

The River’s End Bookstore opened its doors on May 18th, 1998. Fifteen years later, this beloved local business continues to be Oswego’s community bookstore and has the same goal “serving writers and readers” in the community. Bill and Mindy Reilly, owners of The River’s End have truly created a wonderful gathering place for both readers and writers where they can connect with one another.
“We believe that reading is empowering for men and women, boys and girls of all ages,” Reilly stated. Not only does The River’s End Bookstore have a huge collection of books for readers of all ages to read and browse, they also have a special Storytime for little ones. Every Tuesday at 10:30 am, bookstore employee Banna reads books about important themes that children can connect to the world around them. The River’s End also offers writer’s workshops, taught by Jim Farfaglia that are open to writers 13 and over.
Oswego, NY has become Bill Reilly’s adopted hometown. “When other folks ask me about Oswego of course I talk about the weather and our river and the beautiful lake, but it is the people that make Oswego the best place for me,” he said. Reilly knows that without the people and support from the community, The River’s End Bookstore would not have succeeded and made it this far. “The readers of Oswego have embraced The River’s End Bookstore. They choose to support our independent business with their book purchases,” he stated.
The River’s End Bookstore has many events planned for this Summer, including Find Waldo Local. Reilly is extremely excited for this community scavenger hunt that begins on July 1st and involves 25 local businesses in downtown Oswego. The event ends on July 31st with the bookstore’s Waldo Palooza Party! Drop by The River’s End Bookstore or visit their website www.riversendbookstore.com for more information.
The River’s End Bookstore embraces local authors, stating that they “are one of the reasons we exist.” Events where local authors can connect with their readers are held frequently at the store. In fact there are many planned for this summer! These events are updated regularly and can be found on The River’s End Bookstore’s Facebook page and website.
We would like to wish a Happy Belated 15th Birthday to The River’s End Bookstore. We, and the community of Oswego, hope to celebrate many more birthdays with you!
